Electrical Panel Warning Signs: Repair or Upgrade?

Repeated trips, unusual heat or visible damage need professional assessment, but they do not automatically establish that a larger electrical service is the solution. First distinguish a fault from a capacity requirement.

Symptoms to report

Describe which circuits are affected, whether a particular appliance was running and when the issue began. Mention burning smells, buzzing, discoloration or previous water exposure. Do not remove the panel cover or touch damaged equipment to gather more information.

When to request urgent help

Smoke, fire or an immediate threat requires leaving the area and contacting emergency services. Do not repeatedly reset a breaker that continues to trip. For other concerns, call to establish availability and explain the symptoms; an online enquiry is not emergency dispatch.

What the assessment should resolve

Ask whether the problem is a component fault, a circuit issue, equipment condition or insufficient capacity for planned loads. Request the reason for any replacement recommendation and the scope of utility and permit coordination. Age alone is not a complete diagnosis.
