Request a panel assessment when you have a specific concern about condition, recurring electrical symptoms or planned equipment. Be clear whether you need a contractor’s evaluation or an inspection required by a permitting authority.
Useful reasons to arrange a visit
Recurring breaker trips, signs of damage, uncertain previous alterations and new electrical loads are reasons to discuss an assessment. Provide available records and explain the concern. A property sale or renovation may also involve requirements set by another party.
Prepare without opening the equipment
Photograph the closed panel, labels that are safely visible and the surrounding access area. Record symptoms and relevant appliance models. Keep the area accessible for the electrician, but do not remove covers or attempt internal testing yourself.
Ask what the report covers
Confirm the testing and documentation included, any inaccessible areas and the recommended follow-up. A contractor assessment does not replace municipal approval, and a past inspection does not certify future changes. Ask the relevant authority about project-specific inspection requirements.
